Menai Bridge Cricket Club – 4ft Auto-Roller

Back in October, Menai Bridge Cricket Club contacted us when they wanted to replace their old Auto-Roller. Head groundsman, Keith, was kind enough to let us in on how they found the process with applying for grants and purchasing the Auto-Roller.

Menai Bridge Cricket Club is situated on the Isle of Anglesey in North West Wales. Nestled in the beautiful scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, the club boasts a fantastic community spirit combined with majestic views.

Keith told us that he always liked the look of our Auto-Roller and appreciated that it had been tried and tested, being the main cricket roller of choice at the majority of test cricket grounds. When comparing prices, the club found that our 4ft Auto-Roller was more cost effective than alternative options.

Menai Bridge found their funding through two separate charitable trusts; both with the shared aim to support local community incentives. Back at the start of the year, an advert for funding opportunities was spotted in the local newspaper by a club committee member. We provided Keith with a quote for an Auto-Roller, which the cricket club then used as part of their funding application.

Keith mentioned that as part of the funding process, the charitable trusts were both keen to see balance sheets and on how the granted funds would benefit the greater community. It was demonstrated that the Auto-Roller would enhance the appearance of the grounds and bring more incentive to get involved with community cricket.

“The actual application itself wasn’t difficult. We were aware however that the more we the club had already contributed, the more likely we’d be to receive the funding.”

Almost a year later, we were pleased to hear from Keith again to let us know they had been successful. So of course we were delighted to provide the club with a brand new 4ft Auto-Roller.

“Auto-Roller were always very quick to provide information and offer assistance. Having visited their stand at the Saltex show a couple of years ago, we were particularly drawn to the Auto-Roller. When it came to the final decision, the committee members asked me, “Keith, you will be the one sitting on the roller, which one would you prefer to use?” and I said the Auto-Roller!”

So congratulations Menai Bridge on their brand new Auto-Roller - we hope you enjoy using it for many, many years to come!
