Wickford Cricket Club – 4ft Roller

When speaking to Wickford Cricket club earlier this year, they were willing candidates to add to our ever growing rainbow of rollers! In addition to pink and mint green, we have now added cherry red as another unique finished roller.

When he received the roller, Daniel Rouse (Chairman and Head Groundsman) said he was "like a kid at Christmas".

Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club – 4ft Roller

We spoke with Chipping Sodbury Cricket Club in the summer after they were awarded a section 106 grant to go towards providing community and social infrastructure. We were pleased to quote them for a new 4ft Auto-Roller.

The club had decided to go with an Auto-Roller after seeing the Pitchcare article regarding last year's 3ft Auto-Roller Competition and liked our ambition for supporting smaller cricket clubs with limited funding.

We were pleased to be able to deliver the roller while the sun was still shining and they are now the proud owners of not only a new roller, but also our complementary cricket hat!

We would like to thank Chairman Andy Shield for the business and his kind words. We hope the club get many years of use out of their roller - starting next season once the weather has warmed up a bit!

Auto-Roller Competition Result – Slaughters United

As proud supporters of the England and Wales Cricket Board, we asked cricket clubs nationwide to register with the NatWest CricketForce scheme to be in with a chance to win a brand new 3ft Auto-Roller. At a value of £9,749, we wanted to give something back to the clubs that have supported us over the past 90 years.

Although the Auto-Roller is now exported world-wide to countries such as the West Indies, Pakistan and Australia, the importance of supporting growth in cricket’s home country is something we are very passionate about. Through Lords and Edgbaston, all the way to the Isle of Jersey, the Auto-Roller has become a symbol of cricket heritage; providing cricket clubs the professional turf finish demanded by the world’s top groundsmen.

As a huge thank you for all of the support (and for keeping our cricket pitches in top condition!) our specially made 3ft Auto-Roller was awarded to Slaughters United Cricket Club in the Cotswolds!

Ormskirk Cricket Club – Re-Power Kit

Ormskirk Cricket Club first contacted us in 2016, enquiring about an Auto-Roller Re-Power Kit. We were happy to supply them with a quote and were contacted again last year when they were beginning to put the funding in place.

At the beginning of this year, the purchase of a Re-Power kit was approved by the committee. We received the old roller from Ormskirk and began the process of shot-blasting and re-spraying the roller, plus fitting the new kit at our workshop here in Wiltshire.

Within a few weeks, the roller (looking almost like a new machine!) was ready to go back home to Ormskirk, just in time for the start of the season!

Pink 3ft Auto-Roller

In the past, cricket clubs and schools ordering a new roller or re-power kit have requested a different roller colour to the standard Auto-Roller green. The Mint Green Re-Power Kit has been the boldest colour choice so far, but we think this bright pink new 3ft roller might just have it beat!

The 3ft Auto-Roller was introduced a few years ago to meet the demand of smaller clubs with budget constraints. It is not compromised in any way due to the narrow width, making it a great cost effective option.

Menai Bridge Cricket Club – 4ft Auto-Roller

Back in October, Menai Bridge Cricket Club contacted us when they wanted to replace their old Auto-Roller. Head groundsman, Keith, was kind enough to let us in on how they found the process with applying for grants and purchasing the Auto-Roller.

Menai Bridge Cricket Club is situated on the Isle of Anglesey in North West Wales. Nestled in the beautiful scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, the club boasts a fantastic community spirit combined with majestic views.

Most Interesting Tractor at the Steam Rally

The Heddington and Stockley Steam Rally is held very close by to our premises in Wiltshire. The directors at Autoguide have always played a large part in the organisation of the event and we are happy to provide an award for most interesting tractor at the Rally every year, where they exhibit a huge variety of vintage vehicles, from classic rollers to classic tractors. 

This year, the award went to Andrew Hurkett's family for their Orchard version of a Ferguson 35. Andy's children are shown accepting the tankard from Janet Tyler on whose land the Rally is held. Janet herself accepted the Jumbo Reid award from his son and daughter. This award recognises the huge contribution made by the Tyler family to the Rally.
