The Electric Auto-Roller Returns Home to Bath Cricket Club

Some stories have a way of coming full circle, and this one is no exception. Over a century ago, in the quiet village of Norton St Philip, just outside Bath, the first Auto-Roller was brought to life. Designed to perfect cricket pitches, it quickly became a trusted companion for groundskeepers across the country. Now, over 100 years later, the latest evolution of this iconic machine – the brand-new Electric Auto-Roller – has returned to its roots, finding a temporary home at Bath Cricket Club.

It was a picture-perfect summer’s day when we delivered the roller to Bath. The sun bathed the historic city in golden light, and as we rolled onto the club’s grounds, it felt like the Electric Auto-Roller was exactly where it belonged. Seeing it sit proudly on the lush green outfield, with Bath’s famous skyline in the background, was a moment of pride and nostalgia.

What makes this loan even more fitting is Bath Cricket Club’s commitment to sustainability. The city has long been setting ambitious environmental targets, and what better way to contribute to their greener future than with an emissions-free, whisper-quiet roller? Gone are the days of engine noise and fuel fumes – the Electric Auto-Roller is here to make a difference, both for the cricket pitch and the planet.

As the roller glided effortlessly across the square, it was clear that this was a perfect match. A club with a strong vision for the future, and a piece of history reimagined for the modern game. We couldn’t be more delighted to support Bath Cricket Club and to see our Electric Auto-Roller back in the city where its journey first began.

This isn’t just a milestone for us at Auto-Roller, but a proud moment for the sport itself. The shift towards sustainable ground equipment is gaining momentum, and Bath Cricket Club is leading by example. We hope this partnership inspires other clubs to consider eco-friendly alternatives and to embrace the future of cricket pitch maintenance.

So, next time you catch a game at Bath, take a moment to appreciate not just the cricket, but the silent, smooth operator working behind the scenes – a century-old legacy, now electrified for the future.
